“I don’t believe in love, but I believe in you.”
Tracey Emin (born 1963, Croydon, Greater London) is a celebrated English artist known for her autobiographical and confessional work across drawing, painting, sculpture, video, neon text, and sewn appliqué. A leading figure among the Young British Artists (YBAs) of the 1990s, she gained prominence with provocative installations such as Everyone I Have Ever Slept With 1963–1995 (1995) and My Bed (1998), which confront personal trauma and sexuality with striking candor. Emin’s practice challenges conventional boundaries through raw emotional honesty. She has lectured extensively and served as Professor of Drawing at the Royal Academy. Honored with a damehood in 2024, she lives and works between Margate and London.
